The Fairfield Paint Out concluded with a bang — more than 140 paintings sold, a 41 percent increase over last year, totaling $17,000.

More than 20 artists spread out over Wayne County in Illinois to paint for the event, which celebrated its fifth anniversary this year. Lawrence Rudolech won big, scoring Best of Show and the Country Life Award for his piece “Should Have Seen It When.” Lon Brauer also enjoyed a good event, taking the Artists’ Choice award in the nocturne event and earning Best Oil for another piece.
