Capturing Life’s Colorful Moments

Award-winning artist Anette credits her mom, who also paints; and growing up on an island off the Swedish coast for providing a childhood full of creative exploration and a love for the outdoors. Together with her sister Sofie and friends, she would spend hours drawing, creating toys, putting together plays and adventuring out in nature. For a time, Anette then took that creativity into the world of theatre, studying acting both in Sweden and later in the US, before art again captured her full attention.

Learning on the job in Los Angeles, Anette enjoyed more than a decade working in Animation as a background painter for studios like Disney, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Universal. It was a wonderful place to fine-tune her sense of light, color and setting a mood to help tell a story. When starting her own family, and with young children Anette had the opportunity to further focus her attention on Fine Art, painting on a smaller scale and learning daily.

Some of the accomplished artists Anette have studied with include Ray Roberts, Peggy Kroll-Roberts, Colin Page, Carol Marine, Camille Przwodek, and William Wray.

Anette now dedicates her time to painting in oils. She works from her home studio, painting outdoors from life, and on her travels, as often as possible. In addition to painting, Anette enjoys teaching art classes at her kids’ school, the occasional workshop for adults, as well as demonstrating for local art associations.

“I find myself drawn to subject matters with light and color that celebrate life’s fleeting moments”, says Anette. “I enjoy painting on location immersing myself in the present moment and capturing a sense of our personal place in history. What I thrive on is finding an interesting way to crop my subject and dividing the canvas in a way that tells a story.”

In February 2016 Anette joined Eric Rhoads as one of 100 artists on a historical trip to Cuba to paint and capture this amazing country before things change. This past year Anette was also honored to receive 2 “Best of Show” Awards: one at the Frank Bette Plein Air Event and the other at the Ventura Plein Air Invitational 2016. Anette is a member of CAC, OPA, AIS, LPAPA, SCAPE, TAG and The Television Academy.

Nothing compares to plein air painting when it comes to taming that panic of capturing a fleeting moment and staying absolutely present at the same time. It is always a challenge, and a true gift to me as an artist.
