“Gorgeous use of values and color hues to depict moments in the life of her subjects.” – Informed Collector

Poppy Balser has always lived very near the ocean, mostly within walking distance of the Bay of Fundy. With it’s great tides, rich seashore and long-time fishing traditions, the Bay of Fundy is a muse that continually inspires her. She finds that painting en plein air enriches her paintings with a depth found only with direct observation of the subject.

“I want others to see what I see. I live in a part of the world with great natural beauty. Painting outside gives me a chance to share the seacoast and rural landscape. I can examine and explore these subjects closely, creating paintings that resonate with the viewer. I find watercolour to be the perfect medium for capturing the atmosphere and light of my local environment.”
