Spencer Meagher is a plein air and studio painter whose subjects focus on our contemporary world. His mediums of choice are watercolor and oil. Primarily self-taught, Meagher has studied with Joseph Fettingis, John P. Lasater IV 
and M. Shawn Cornell. 

Spencer has participated in many regional and national competitions throughout the Midwest. His stable of awards include Best of Show at Penn Valley Plein Air, KCMO. First, Second and third place awards at Augusta, MO, Steelville, MO, Parkville, MO and Grand Marais, MN plein air events. He has received awards from Jurors Phil Starke, Billy O’Donnell, M. Shawn Cornell, Lisa Ober and Debra Joy Groesser. Meagher has been the recipient of multiple purchase awards and his work hangs in corporate and private collections in several countries.

Born in Las Vegas, NV, he has lived in Arizona, Minnesota, Texas and Wisconsin. He currently resides in Mount Vernon, IL and teaches watercolor at his studio as well as art workshops throughout the Midwest. Spencer places great emphasis on a solid drawing, the backbone of a successful painting. Meagher looks for strong color and contrast in his subjects. Whether watercolor or oil, his paintings are rendered with a flair for realism, often hinting at impressionism.
