About the aritst:
William A. Schneider paints primarily from life, he seeks to capture the emotion of a particular moment and place.  Sargent, Zorn, Fechin, and Sorolla have been influences. His skills were honed during eight years at the American Academy of Art’s Saturday Program in Chicago where he studied figure drawing with Bill Parks and oil painting with Ted Smuskiewicz.  He continued his education through workshops with Carolyn Anderson, Dan Gerhartz, Harley Brown, Richard Schmid and others. William commented, “The wonderful thing about art is that you can always get better. I view myself as a perpetual student!”
 
William has been featured in numerous publications and has received awards in exhibitions including those of: American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, The Pastel Society of America, Portrait Society of America, and Salon International. (He won four “Best of Show” awards in national juried competitions last year). He is represented by galleries in Carmel, CA; Napa Valley; Taos, NM; Cincinnati, OH; and Waukesha WI.
 
William teaches workshops at some of the premier art schools including the Scottsdale Artists’ School, Fredericksburg Artists’ School, and Peninsula Art School. His instructional DVDs are distributed by Liliedahl Video Productions.
 
Bill was awarded signature status in Oil Painters of America (OPA), NOAPS, the Pastel Society of America, and the American Impressionist Society (AIS). The Pastel Society of America has recognized him as a “Master Pastelist”, AIS made him a Master Signature Member (AISM) and the International Association of Pastel Societies has recognized him as a member of their “Masters’ Circle”.
