Reports from the Winter Park Paint Out, a plein air event sponsored by the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens in Winter Park, Florida, indicate that sales were brisk and fans were enjoying demonstrations by artists such as Morgan Samuel Price.
The lush vegetation of Winter Park, FL, was going to feature prominently in many artists’ work, as it does in this piece by Kelvin Hair.
The view from online was impressive, too, as the museum and the event’s organizers clearly leveraged the digital realm to create a sense of excitement about the event online as activities unfolded. A webpage devoted to the paint-out showed paintings with prices posted as soon as they could be photographed, with information on how a viewer could buy a piece. “We photograph and upload each painting as it’s completed so our collectors and enthusiasts can see what’s happening throughout the day,” explains Hal Stringer, co-chair of the paint-out.
The Albin Polasek Museum posted paintings for sale from the paint-out in real time online to bolster sales.
Artist Stephen Bach attached this reminder to a canvas, presumably because Ms. Price was occupied elsewhere and thus unavailable for consultation.
The museum also turned over its Facebook page to the event and kept it populated with new photos and information on the paint-out, which features 25 artists who work in various media.
