The winning artists stand with judge Stewart White

A variety of great plein air works were recently created in the small town of Ocean City Maryland last week, earning several artists ribbons and cash prizes.  Details here!

The beautiful views in and around Ocean City, Maryland, attracted 52 talented outdoor painters between August 9th and 12th for the annual “Artists Paint Ocean City” plein air competition.  The event, like many others, includes a Quick Draw competition and awards artists with cash prizes in several categories.

In 2017, renowned watercolorist and former President of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association Stewart White judged the event, awarding First prize to Andrée Tullier of Annapolis, Maryland.  Second place was awarded to Ray Ewing while Third place went to Alison Menke.  Honorable mention winners included Crystal Moll and Siobhan Duggan.

The Best Use of Light Award went to Christopher Best and the Best Maritime Theme Award was taken by Carol Wetovich.  The Best OC Lifestyle Award was earned by Maggii Sarfaty and Barbara Kern-Bush had the best Nocturne.

Winners of the Quick Draw competition came next with Dennis Young earning the top honors.  Second place was awarded to Maureen Wheatley while Kurt Plinke was honored with Third place.  Honorable mention was won by Andrée Tullier.
