Residents and visitors alike to Long Beach Island, New Jersey, can expect to see more than a few painters at some of the more picturesque parts of the island during the month of August as many prepare for a large September plein air exhibition.

From September 8 through October 27, the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences (LBIF) will host an exhibition of plein air paintings by 35 juried artists.  Called “Island Life: Plein Air Plus, the exhibition closes the LBIF’s “Summer of Plein Air” events, which included several workshops.

“I saw the Foundation’s plein air exhibit last year and hoped I would get in this year—and I did” said artist Laurie Meher, one of the 35 juried artists of 2017.  Among the artists, each will select four of their paintings done en plein air on the island to exhibit.
