Kelly Kane’s Pick of the Week: Cliff Side Memories
“Nature, with its unpredictability and endless variety of organic shapes, is one of my primary sources of artistic inspiration. When I paint in plein air, my objective is not to capture the realism of what I’m seeing. Instead, I’m in a state of ‘gathering truths’ through all of my senses to build an inventory of shapes, textures, colors, and feelings that I will later draw upon when working in my studio. In other words, I paint outdoors so I can paint indoors.” ~ Shar Coulson, “Pushing Boundaries,” Plein Air Magazine, Dec 2019-Jan 2020
