Kelly Kane’s Pick of the Week: “SoHo Rooftop No. 31, South”

“Art is an infinite learning experience. It attracts me because I can experiment; there’s always something new to try. The water tank paintings in New York helped me see that I could tackle something I’d never done before. It opened up new pathways and ways to think about things, too, in regard to linear and atmospheric perspective and other aspects of painting. My favorite part of painting barns and buildings is how they intersect with nature. Sometimes you have to make buildings interesting in a painting, as I did in New York, so that influence is coming to bear in the things I am painting now.”
