Jennifer Diehl, "Closing Time," oil, 24 x 30 in.

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) is presenting “Dusk to Dawn,” its juried cultural art show as a Virtual Gallery Show in lieu of the physical exhibition at the Laguna Beach City Hall due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. The art work is available for purchase through LPAPA’s special priced sale/auction with proceeds benefitting the artists and nonprofit LPAPA.

Keiko Tanabe, “Into the Light, Florence,” watercolor, 20 x 14 in.

Over 139 entries were received for this show of nocturne works, with jurors Celeste Gilles (LPAPA Board Member), Rosemary Swimm (LPAPA Executive Director) and Ludo Leideritz (Owner Forest & Ocean Gallery) choosing 40 original plein air and studio paintings created by LPAPA Signature and Artist Members for the show’s coveted spots.

Mike Hodges Hill, “At Night,” oil, 16 x 20 in.

LPAPA’s Executive Director Rosemary Swimm shares, “The plein air painter does not have typical business hours and you will find them outdoors painting before the sun has come up, and well after it has gone down…capturing the first light at dawn, fading glow of a sunset, or the illumination of a night scene…our artists are excited about the changing light and have presented us with some amazing artwork.”
