The pervasive greenery of the Northwest and the expansive blue of the Pacific to its coastline come alive in oil paintings and watercolors.

A Seattle exhibitor of paintings and works on paper, Prographica will soon unveil a “Summer Group Show” of gallery and guest artists. The exhibition opens July 19 and continues through August 16. An opening reception will be held on July 19, from 2-4 p.m.

Kathy Gore-Fuss, “Wooded Canopy I,” 2014, oil on linen, 9 x 12 in. Prographica

Vanessa Tran, “Untitled (9),” 2013, oil on paper, 10 1/4 x 12 1/2 in. Prographica

The “Summer Group Show” at Prographica displays the art of Kathy Gore-Fuss, Kathy Liao, Henk Pander, Robert Schlegel, and Vanessa Tran. Liao, Schlegel, and Tran feature on Prographica’s roster, while Gore-Fuss and Pander are visiting artists.

Kathy Liao, “Breathe In,” 2013, mixed media on canvas, 68 x 58 in. Prographica

Robert Schlegel, “Roy Road 2,” 2013, mixed media on paper, 11 x 8 1/2 in. Prographica

Executed with striking color contrasts, Liao’s figurative works simultaneously express their sitter’s character and the artist’s technical ability. The classically trained Pander displays a series of watercolor landscapes that capitalize on the painterly quality of the medium. Through variations on the same subject, Tran’s quiet meditations in oil on paper exude serenity and thoughtfulness. Blocks of color compose Schlegel’s minimalistic landscapes and street scenes, juxtaposing the heavy, slashing impasto of Gore-Fuss’s forestry.
