More From Mary Pettis Galleries:

This exhibit showcases the beauty of our local landscapes, seen through the eyes of a selection of OPM’s member artists, and we are happy to share that two paintings, “Minnehaha Falls in Autumn” and “Cedars in Springtime” by Mary Pettis, were selected for this show.

“Minnehaha Falls is treasured by the residents of Minnesota not only for its beauty, but also for its historical significance,” Mary says. “The New England poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow gave this Minneapolis waterfall national fame in ‘The Song of Hiawatha.’ It is particularly stunning in the autumn. The stand of lovely old cedars and fellow oaks form an earthy and inviting backdrop for the rocky hillside near my home. Warm southern winds and overcast lavender skies ushered in spring as I painted ‘Cedars in Springtime’!”
