Artist Lisa Stauffer with her painting “Into the Barn,” Best of Show

Organizers and participating artists were on a mission in early August 2017 to create award-winning paintings — and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The event was certainly fantastic, but only these artists walked away with the coveted prizes.

From August 9 through the 12th, Arts Mineral Point in Wisconsin hosted a lively plein air event that had some fantastic results. Now in its fourth year, Paint the Point is hosted in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, in the southwestern part of the state. The quaint town offers plein air painters idyllic Midwestern landscapes and turn-of-the-century architecture throughout its downtown. Like similar events, Paint the Point hosted a nocturne event and Quick Paint competition, capping off with a Show & Sale.
