A typical winter scene in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, the home of the Paint the Point winter plein air paint out scheduled for February 4-7.

Why paint winter in Wisconsin? We can point you to two reasons.

1. If you can’t lick winter, join up with painters and paint it. Painting winter with pals makes it the fun or, barring that, the kind of ordeal that good memories are often made from. Just ask this group of Colorado painters.

2. Because Pamela Ruschman says. She also points out that Wantoot, the gallery sponsoring the Wisconsin winter Paint the Point event, is a notable one. “It’s in a small town, but it looks like it should be a gallery in New York City or Chicago.” Ruschman and some friends are driving three hours to Mineral Point to participate.

Longbranch Gallery is another sponsor, and Arts Mineral Point is the organizer. Paint the Point runs February 4-7. Visit the website for more information.

  1. How does one become a member of this group? I live in CA near Newport Beach and would like to be with you fine people to paint and learn.
