The Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition, a nonprofit organization promoting cultural events along Florida’s Panhandle coast from Alligator Point to Mexico Beach in the Panama City area, held its 8th annual “America’s Great Plein Air Event” from May 2 to May 12.
James Richards won the Artists’ Choice award.
The event included a quick draw and some mentoring of local high school students. The paint-out features a wetroom that alternates each year between the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art in Historic Apalachicola and downtown Port St. Joe, where the public can see some of the newest paintings by the invited artists.

Ken Dewaard won Honorable Mention for his piece.

Morgan Samuel Price won First Place and Judge’s Choice in the Quick Draw competition. James Richards won Artists’ Choice, while David Boyd, Jr., won Best Emerging Artist. Mary Erickson, Ken Dewaard, and Haidee-Jo Summers won Honorable Mention awards.
