Parting Shot: Call It a Cowscape

Why did Fen Rascoe paint Galloway belted cows?

“Well, I have to drive pretty far to paint cityscapes,” he says, laughing. Rascoe is a farmer in North Carolina, and when he wants to paint, he sometimes visits his friend’s farm, Spruill Bros. Pastured Meats. “His farm sits on the river; it’s very secluded,” says Rascoe. “When I don’t have any plans or any other place in mind to paint, I go there. It’s killing two birds with one stone — I paint, and I get some relaxation.”
