Jill Wagner was painting in Spoleto, Italy, when, unbeknownst to her, rays of sun bathed her in a column of light.

“While I was painting this old cathedral in Umbria, a really nice Dutch woman came up and asked if she could shoot a photo of me,” says Wagner. “Of course, I said yes. She shot one, and then another. When she looked at the second one she gasped and showed it to me. I was illuminated by a ray from above. She didn’t see it when she photographed me, and I certainly didn’t feel it. The only way I can explain it is that some higher power was looking out for me while I painted.”
