Not everyone in Monterey, California, earlier this month was painting en plein air. Some were relaxing by the sea. PACE participant Kathie Odom came upon 12 women lounging at the beach with drinks in hand, and she decided to paint them. And the title?

The women who served as the subject matter for “26 Left at Home”

One of the women noticed Odom and came over to see what she was doing. Soon, all of them were there. Odom asked them how many kids they had collectively left at home for this little bit of R&R. The number became the title of her painting.
