The Art Renewal Center recently announced the winners of its 2013/2014 International Salon Competition, with Jeremy Lipking taking top honors and John Pototschnik winning the PleinAir Magazine Award for his oil painting “Brisk Evening.”

“It’s with a deep sense of gratitude that I receive the PleinAir Magazine Award,” says Pototschnik. “To have my work personally chosen by Eric Rhoads and Steve Doherty is a special honor.”

“When I Was Young,” by Stephen Bauman, oil, 45 x 60 in. Winner of the Fine Art Connoisseur Award

He continues, “It doesn’t often snow in my area of Texas, so when it does, it’s a pretty big deal. ‘Brisk Evening’ was inspired by a stroll on my neighbor’s land after just such a snow, and that, combined with a good deal of artistic license, produced the result.”

“Adrift,” by Jeremy Lipking, oil on linen, 40 x 40 in. Best in Show

Jeremy Lipking won Best in Show, which netted him $8,000 on top of the $75,000 purchase prize he won for the piece “Adrift.” See all of the winners here.
