Who took home $5,000 from San Clemente, California?

Rita Pacheco’s painting of a scene on a golf course, “At the Turn,” won First Place and the $5,000 cash award. Rick Delanty won Second with “San Mateo Valley.” Third Place went to Barbara Tapp for “The Hole San Clemente.” John Cosby and Lori Putnam served as judges.

“The event began with a Quick Draw and reception on June 13 and culminated with a buffet dinner and awards ceremony the following Saturday, June 20,” reports Pam Hill, the chairperson for the event. “During the busy week artists drew on their ability to create something beyond what the average eye may see, plus they swapped stories of the crazy stuff that happens when painting the great outdoors, and maybe shared their favorite locations, including the Pier Bowl, the beach trails, and the many picturesque shops of San Clemente. Paint San Clemente is hosted by the San Clemente Art Association and its 350 or so members. The money raised by the event goes to the Art Reach Program, which furnishes desperately needed funds for San Clemente Schools and offers scholarships to deserving high school seniors.”

In the Quick Draw, Carla Bosch won First with “Tea Time.” Dominique Eichi won Second with “Sitting Pretty,” and Toni Danchik took Third for “Garden Bouquet.” Rita Pacheco won Honorable Mention.

The paintings, including the award winners, will be on display in the San Clemente Art Gallery until July 31. It was the 14th year for Paint San Clemente.
