The Plein Air Washington group held a show celebrating the National Park Service’s centennial, asking its members to submit a studio painting set in a park, and the plein air piece that inspired it. Ned Mueller walked away with the top prize.

Jim McVicker served as judge for the show, which is on view at the American Art Company, in Tacoma, Washington, through January 7.

Melanie Thompson’s studio painting won First Place. Jim Lamb took Second with a studio piece, and Jan Jewell won Third. A plein air by Jewell won Honorable Mention, as did one from Yong Hong Zhong. Louis Hurlbut had a studio painting win Honorable Mention as well.

Robin Weiss won the Best Use of Color award, and Ned Mueller won Best Light.
