From sailboats on the water to skyscrapers in the city and sunsets at the coast, these established painters honor the scenic elements of the Northeast.

North Water Gallery in Edgartown, Massachusetts, on scenic Martha’s Vineyard, debuts a three-person exhibition of fine marine paintings and cityscapes this evening. The show features recent paintings bySergio Roffo, Ken Auster, and Brandon Newton. An artists’ reception takes place from 5-7 p.m.

Brandon Newton, “Up on Main,” oil on canvas, 24 x 36 in. North Water Gallery

Ken Auster, “Stable Profession,” oil on panel, 16 x 20 in. North Water Gallery

A selection of oil paintings from each featured artist manifests their individual talents. Sizes range from an 8-by-10-inch small work to a grand, 3-by-6-foot canvas. Some of the smaller paintings are priced around $1,000, while others are as high as $30,000.

Sergio Roffo, “Sunset Comes to Cape Poge,” oil on canvas, 24 x 36 in. North Water Gallery

Roffo presents a series of tranquil coastal landscapes in soft hues, while Auster exhibits energetic cityscapes that are scenic in a different sense of the word. Newton’s paintings also focus on the latter genre, picturing evenings on Martha’s Vineyard with an economy of brushstrokes and striking color.

Ken Auster, “High ‘n Dry,” oil on panel, 12 x 16 in. North Water Gallery

Brandon Newton, “Darkest Hour,” oil on canvas, 36 x 72 in. North Water Gallery

North Water Gallery’s exhibition of paintings by Roffo, Auster, and Newton continues through August 6. To see more from the exhibition, visit North Water Gallery online.
