The town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas has a history of plein air painting, and a current passion for it as well. This week, both are celebrated.

The inaugural Eureka Springs Plein Air Festival is scheduled for May 22-26, sponsored by the Eureka Springs School of the Arts and the Plein Air Painters of Eureka Springs. And at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum, a display about the earliest plein air painters in the area is on view.
