“Heads of a Man and a Woman,” by Edgar Degas

Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO will present an extraordinary exhibition of drawings, prints, and photographs by Edgar Degas (1834-1917) from April 6 through June 30, 2013. Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist will go beyond Degas’s familiar subjects.

This forthcoming exhibition will offer a fascinating view into the art and life of Edgar Degas, including his early drawings of objects in the Louvre Museum. The exhibition is enriched with rare works of art on paper by friends and colleagues in Degas’s circle; other well-known artists of the period including Mary Cassatt, Paul Cezanne, Jean-Léon Gérôme, Jean-August-Dominique Ingres, Gustav Moreau, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

The exhibition is built around 24 small sketches, including intimate self-portraits and renderings of friends and family. The show is sourced from a single collection and was put together by Los Angeles-based Landau Traveling Exhibitions, which leases touring exhibits to galleries around the world.
