“Sleeper,” by Michael Lynn Adams, oil, 24 x 36 in.

Who is 21st-century man? Is he a romantic hero, a feminist nightmare, a sensitive dreamer, a gentleman? How do artists view contemporary men? In 2011, a well-received exhibition at the Kwan Fong Gallery on the New Romantic Figure included many female figures, but only two paintings with imagery of males. The Man Show is being presented by California Lutheran University (March 7-April 18, 2013) in response to that imbalance, presenting new works from the studios of some of the most respected members of the contemporary representational art world.
