PleinAir magazine editor M. Stephen Doherty served as judge at the recent Solomons Plein Air Festival on Solomons Island, Maryland. Who took the top prize? 

Avian Best of Show ($3,500) went to Tim Kelly for “Relaxing in Her Slip”; Second Place ($2,000) went to Wesley James Drake for “A Fresh Start”; Third Place ($1,000) to Raymond Ewing for “King of the Yard”; and Honorable Mention awards ($100) to Kevin Beck, Carole Boggemann Peirson, and Bruno Baran. The Juror’s Choice winner was Stephan Giannini, and the Robert Guthrie Memorial Award was presented to Mick McAndrews. 

Nancy Tankersley won First Place in the Team Hyundai competition.


In the Nocturnal Quick Draw Competition, Tim Kelly won First Place, Carole Boggemann Peirson won Second Place, and Mick McAndrews won Third Place.

Nancy Tankersley won First Place in the Team Hyundai competition with her painting of antique automobiles. Tim Kelly and Stephan Giannini also received awards from Team Hyundai.

In the Quick Draw competition that benefited HeartFELT, a local charity that feeds and supports children, Wesley James Drake won First Place and Dennis Young won the Second Place award.
