A view of Norfolk Broads, with Mutton’s Mill, a waterpump

An artist and art instructor has bold plans to hold the biggest four-day plein air event ever held in England. Ready to make travel arrangements for 2014?

It’s called Brush With Broads, and the “Broads” in the title refers to the watery lands in Eastern England around the town of Acle. The marshy land has rivers and streams that are mostly less than 15 feet deep, and the views are decidedly pastoral. Linda H. Matthews is the artist who is organizing the event, and she’s quite energetic — she also runs a local gallery, and plans painting workshops and trips with herself serving as instructor. Matthews says she expects as many as 200 artists at the event, which will run September 25 through 29, 2014.
