Back in February, members of the California Art Club painted at Santa Anita Park, a horse racing facility in Arcadia, California, outside of Los Angeles. These plein air pieces or the studio work they inspired are on view now at Santa Anita, and sales of the work will help pay for the care of retired thoroughbreds.

The sale of the pieces in “The Majesty of the Great Race: California Art Club Paints Historic Santa Anita Park” will help fund California Retirement Management Account, a non-profit that cares for retired horses. The reception and sale is this Saturday, October 22, and admission includes a day at the track.

Artists featured in the show include Johanna Spinks, Rita Pacheco, W. Jason Situ, Peter Adams, Michael Obermeyer, Frank Serrano, Ramon Hurtado, Alexey Steele, and more.
