Growing up in rural Wisconsin, Antwan has always had a connection with the natural world. Countless hours adventuring around the woods, rivers, and prairies of his childhood gave him great admiration of nature’s beauty. Capturing that beauty, he believes, often takes more than just visual observation. Antwan looks to emotionally resonate with the mood and the moment of a subject and try to capture first and foremost, the “feeling”.
While he primarily paints in oils, there is a deep respect and love for watercolors, this plays a big part in his methods as he uses loose thin washes to get the layout and atmospheric qualities blocked in before beginning more thick and expressive alla prima strokes.
Antwan studied art in Southern California in a classic-style atelier run by Ron and Vanessa Lemen.
With years in illustration and concept design, Antwan now enjoys expanding into fine art using the liberating qualities of media to share the beautiful moments that surround us.
