The prestigious 15th Annual American Impressionist Society National Juried Exhibition will open to visitors on October 2 at Abend Gallery in Denver, Colorado.

The annual exhibition is the most visible event organized by the American Impressionist Society, which exists solely to encourage the creation and appreciation of impressionistic art in the U.S. Plein air paintings as well as figures and still life works executed in the studio may all fall under the banner of American Impressionism if they display an interest in light on form, variations of color, and expressive handling of paint.

This year’s exhibition features paintings by AIS Masters Carolyn Anderson, Kenn Backhaus, Clayton J. Beck III, Nancy Bush, Betty Carr, Kim English, Jerry Fresia, Albert Handell, Calvin Liang, Wiezhen Liang, Huihan Liu, Kevin Macpherson, C.W. Mundy, William Schneider, and Zhiwei Tu. These artists exhibit their pieces alongside more than 150 works selected by jury for the exhibition.

A reception and awards presentation for the featured artists will be held on October 2, from 5-8 p.m. AIS Master Clayton J. Beck III will serve as juror of the awards, and in conjunction with the exhibition, Beck will offer a demonstration at Abend Gallery on October 3, from 6-8 p.m.
