Artists paint the view from Olana, the estate of Frederic Edwin Church.

Artists have a chance to paint on the estate of Hudson River School legend Frederic Edwin Church in July at the fourth annual “Plein Air at Olana: Creating Landscapes Within the Landscape” event — but the deadline is nearly upon us.

Olana is the name Church gave to his 250-acre estate, one that he designed specifically for spectacular views. It’s located two hours north of New York City.

Only 30 artists will be selected for the event by juror M. Stephen Doherty, the editor of PleinAir magazine. Yours truly will serve as the awards judge. The deadline is April 15, so read the prospectus now.
