The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina, in Cambridge, Maryland, site of the inaugural Plein Air Golf Tournament and Cocktail Party

The Dorchester Center for the Arts in Cambridge, Maryland, is offering an interesting hybrid event — a golf tournament and plein air painting competition in one.

The competition, which is scheduled for June 7, is free for artists, and $70 for golfers. The golf portion is a 9-hole scramble for foursomes with a shotgun start. Painters are invited to set up anywhere on the course or on the driving range, but they must be in position before the 2 p.m. tee time.

Proceeds benefit the Dorchester Center for the Arts’ educational activities. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina, in Cambridge. Prizes will be awarded to winning paintings. For more information, call 410.228.7782.

  1. Wow – Love these on the spot amazing little sketches – so exciting – better than any photograph as far as I’m concerned!

  4. Water colors are the best. Total control really fast. Tip: I add alcohol to my water when it’s really cold, that happens when I go skiing on the mainland. It’s warm here in Hawaii.

  5. These are beautiful little watercolors, I wish I had Robert’s talent! I travelled this route a year ago last summer, it was spectacular in a different way..I have many photographs taken from the train and at the railway stations with my point and shoot camera, but these paintings are SO much better! I’m now inspired to paint from some of my photographs.
