Gloria Chadwick started her painting in peace, and ended it in a parade.

Gloria Chadwick knew there would be a parade that day, but it appeared that the parade route was some distance away. No.

“It was too late to back out and find a new location, as I had already started painting and thought the procession would be located on the road in front of the tower,” says Chadwick. “Wrong. I received many comments about the painting, plus a TV news interview, and several people asked what group I represented. One lady saw the Plein Air Force decal on my carryall cart and said, ‘Oh I see, you’re with the Air Force.’ That led to an explanation about the convention and the desire to have more people painting outside and discovering a greater joy and appreciation for outdoor painting.”
