Event organizers: Do you want award-winning artists at your plein air competition? Artists: Do you want to be equipped with the most comprehensive list of plein air events in 2016?

It’s that time of year again — the time when artists start to plan their travels in the coming months, and the organizers of plein air events begin their efforts to let painters know about the opportunities they offer. Into this situation comes PleinAir magazine’s Ultimate Artists’ & Collectors’ Guide to Plein Air Events and Organizations, an electronic and print publication that bridges the gap between those who wish to know and those who wish to inform.

It’s the most comprehensive list of plein air events out there, and it’s made a huge difference in past years. Just ask Hanover, Indiana, artist Lawrence Rudolech. In 2015 he won the Quick Paint event at an event he only learned about through the Ultimate Guide: Artists Paint OC, in Ocean City, Maryland. “That guide is the best thing that magazine has ever done,” Rudolech says. “It was well past due that someone would organize all the events. It’s an organizational nightmare for an artist to figure out which events to go to, and where they fall on the calendar.”

PleinAir magazine’s Ultimate Guide does indeed do just that, and artists are using it. An expanded, enhanced listing costs a bit extra, but it’s the kind of listing that Artists Paint OC used last year, and it brought in their Quick Paint winner — and its Honorable Mention winner, since Rudolech took home that award as well.

Organizers need to take advantage of this opportunity fast. The deadline for listings is October 16. For more information or to publicize your event, click here.
