Washington State painter Cheryl Mathieson had a lot of company when she painted this tranquil scene.

“I was painting on the Lewis River near Woodland, Washington,” she reports. “I resisted adding the salmon jumping, the sea lions eating the salmon, and the eagles.”

Mathieson says the next time, she may put them all in.
