Eric Rhoads interviews John Poon in this week’s PleinAir Podcast, in which they discuss rejections, teaching art, why plein air can be compared to a sport, and much more.
Listen as John Poon shares the following:
• A detailed overview of his four-step program for painting a landscape, for his students and in his own practice
• How rejections are part of being a professional artist and how to push through them toward success
• How you know if you’re ready to teach painting to others and understanding classroom psychology
• What keeps him from getting bored as a painter and how artists stay fresh
• His thoughts on the “ideal training” for artists, and a “basic fact of reality” in regards to selling paintings, and
• What he did when he realized he was allergic to certain chemicals involved in painting
“I view plein air painting as partially a sport,” Poon says. “You have to have your equipment in place. You’ve got to know what to look for because you’re not in a controlled environment.”
Bonus: This week’s PleinAir Podcast includes a Marketing Minute!
Eric Rhoads, author of Make More Money Selling Your Art, explains:
