The 14th Annual Ohio Plein Air Competition recently wrapped up in Bay Village, Ohio, where more than 50 artists competed for the eye of judges Dawn Whitelaw and Robin Roberts.
Hundreds turned out to watch 50 artists compete over two days, beginning September 28, for the 14th Annual Ohio Plein Air Competition in Bay Village. Artists were invited to paint anywhere within Cuyahoga County on the North Coast of Ohio — which includes the city of Cleveland as well as the Cuyahoga National Park and Cleveland Metro Parks.
The event was judged by American Impressionist Society Master Dawn Whitelaw and Ohio Plein Air Society President Robin Roberts. The biggest winner of the event was Marianne Miller, who won Best of Show. First place went to Cody Heichel, Second Place to Robin Roberts, and Third Place to Jeff A. Evans. The Artists’ Choice winner was Robin Roberts.
The Michael Harding Award of Excellence was won by Chuck Marshall, earning him a $300 prize. The LDA Architects Award of Excellence — worth $250 — was taken by Kari Ganoung-Ruiz. Christopher Leeper was the winner of a $250 prize for the Ampersand/Golden Award of Excellence, while Mary Ann Sedivy also received $250 for the JFM Award of Excellence. Joseph Lombardo won $250 for the SourceTek/Richeson Award. Rounding out the cash prizes were Ken Marshall and Fran Mangino, both taking the Judson/Richeson Award of Excellence. Honorable Mentions included Dominick Durante Jr., Tom Cole, and Nancy Thompson. Kari Ganoung-Ruiz was the Quick Draw winner.
