“I sketched and photographed these flowers — with the bonus bee — on location, then played with cropping and orientation in the studio using Photoshop,” said Beth Bathe. “I ultimately chose this vertical format to highlight contrast and movement. Apps that convert images to black and white can also help clarify strong values.”
