Forty painters came to Castine, Maine, to paint the coast and the quaint buildings; several left with awards. Who won?
 
The 2016 Castine Plein Air Festival took place July 21-23, with 240 paintings offering plenty of competition. In the end, John Slivjak won First Place with his painting “Low Tide, Wadsworth Cove.” Second Place went to Michael Vermette for “The Bowdoin at Castine Harbor.” Charles Fenner Ball earned Third Place with “Wadsworth Cove Woods.” Mary Byrom, Mary Hoffman, Michael Chesley Johnson, Janet Sutherland, and Paul Trowbridge earned Honorable Mention. The Castine Captured award went to Frank Constantino for “Castine’s Corner Store.”
