Laguna Beach has a storied past in the plein air world. It still attracts some of the best painters for its events. Who won recently at the LAPAPA 12th Annual Best of Plein Air show?
 
The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association exhibition was hosted by the Forest & Ocean Gallery, where it will be on view through June 27. Jean Stern was the judge.
 


“Grand Elegance,” by Frank Eber, watercolor, 18 x 14 in. Second Place


“Looking In,” by Greg LaRock, oil, 12 x 16 in. Third Place

 
Anthony Salvo won Best in Show for his oil painting “Diver’s Cove.” Second Place went to Frank Eber and his watercolor “Grand Elegance.” Third was won by Greg LaRock, and “Looking In.” Ebrahim Amin and John P. Lasater IV won Honorable Mention.

The awards were modest but the prestige is great, with heavyweights such as Bill Cramer, Lori Putnam, John Budicin, and Clark Mitchell competing for prizes.
