Through November 19, the Laurie Hendricks Gallery in South Pasadena, California, is hosting “Women Artists: Past & Present,” a show inspired by the new four-volume set Emerging From the Shadows: A Survey of Women Artists Working in California, 1860-1960, written by Maurine St. Gaudens.
“I am excited to support Maurine, and was delighted to showcase works from the books along with new artworks from some excellent women artists I know and paint with,” says Hendricks. “It is about time that these women artists from the past get recognition for their fine paintings. Even today, women have to fight to be in shows at major galleries and museums.”

Pasadena-area artists Rita Pacheco, Pati Bruce, Anna T. Kelly, Millie Greene, Kay Henry, and Hendricks share wall space with some of the 320 artists featured in the books.
