Lee McVey, “Chamisa & Sandia Mountains,” pastel, 12 x 12 in; Awarded the first Margi Lucena Memorial Award at Pastel Society of New Mexico's National show, Millicent Rogers Museum, Taos, NM this past fall

Lee McVey: Her landscapes, either in pastel or oil, aim to evoke the feeling of being there in the moment. A founding member of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, Lee is also a Master Circle member of International Association of Pastel Societies, a master signature of PAPNM, and a signature member of Pastel Society of America. The landscapes of the southwest, especially canyons and chamisa, are Lee’s favorite subjects to paint. She feels fortunate to live in Albuquerque which has many open spaces to paint. Ghost Ranch and the Abiquiu, NM area are dear to her heart for plein air painting.
