The 20th annual Forgotten Coast En Plein Air concluded recently with resounding success, bringing together artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts to celebrate the vibrant landscapes and culture of Florida’s Forgotten Coast. The event, known for its ability to unite the region through art, featured a dynamic schedule of painting, exhibitions, and community engagement.
More from the organizers:
The festival began with the Quick Draw Competition, where artists had just two hours to complete a painting before presenting their work for judging. This year’s winners included:
1st Place: Kathleen B. Hudson; 2nd Place: Jeremy Sams; 3rd Place: Richie Vios.

A signature tradition of the event, the Plein Air Church Service, took place along the Apalachicola riverfront. Artists gathered for the Blessing of the Easels before positioning themselves to capture the morning service on canvas, blending spirituality with artistic inspiration.

The event also featured Student Day, an initiative designed to introduce young artists to the world of plein air painting. Held at the Mill Pond in Apalachicola, students received one-on-one instruction from professional artists, providing them with hands-on experience in capturing the beauty of the region.

This milestone year would not have been possible without the dedication of our artists, sponsors, volunteers, and collectors, whose support ensures that this event continues to thrive. Their commitment helps preserve the artistic traditions that define the Forgotten Coast while fostering a deeper appreciation for plein air painting.

Save the date! The 21st Annual Forgotten Coast En Plein Air will take place March 20-29, 2026, promising another unforgettable celebration of art and community.
