Members of the public voted for three of the awards presented during the 1st Annual Bath County Plein Air Festival, in Warm Springs, Virginia. The participating artists selected the winner of the Artists’ Choice award. Find out which four artists took home substantial prize money.
Ed Hatch, winner of the First Place award
A painting by Ed Hatch was voted Best of Show, and he received $1,000 during the Bath County event organized by the Warm Springs Gallery in Warm Springs, Virginia. Anyone attending the opening reception on October 4 was able to cast separate votes for the three awards, and Hatch received the most handwritten votes from those gallery patrons. The Second Place award winner was Joe Burrough, and Third Prize went to Woody Cyrus. Andras Bality received the Artists’ Choice award.

Barbara Buhr, director of Warm Springs Gallery, and the staff of the gallery made the participating artists feel welcome and appreciated. Members of the community supported the event by contributing prize money, access to their property, meals, and accommodations, and they were eager to buy the freshly painted oil, watercolor, and acrylic landscapes during the opening reception.
