What is the best thing about being an artist?
Brienne M Brown: The best thing about being an artist is that I can travel and paint on location. There is something special about plein air painting; where I get to experience a place more fully which creates more meaning in my work. While on location, I am surrounded by sights, sounds, and smells which can never be created while working in my studio.

My latest trip to Colorado, for the Crested Butte Invitational Show, was such an experience. Each painting is a reminder of the feelings I felt while on location. By spending the time to paint on site, I can bring back the inspiration and awe I felt while being surrounded by these majestic mountains. This is my joy of being an artist!
