Sedona Moonrise,” Kathleen Gray Farthing, oil on linen, 12 x 24 in; Painted during the Sedona Plein Air competition

Kathleen Gray Farthing: From Ohio to Arizona, Adirondacks, Cuba, Portugal, Sri Lanka and so many place in between, plein air painting has opened the world to me. As plein air painters, we are both story-tellers and historians. Painting on location, I am immersed in a scene, and I come to know it in a profound way, documenting that moment in time. That place will never be exactly the same again; each place a joyful adventure!
