Debra Joyce Dawson: I paint what I like: light falling on form, abstract compositional patterns that jump out at me, colors and shapes, an old farmhouse or barn may be painted repeatedly until the day I return, and it’s gone. My favorite subjects include water, low tide, old architectural shapes, dress shop windows, and people wearing interesting clothes. I aim for a surface quality from transparent to impasto applied with a brush or palette knife.
