Stephen Williamson has worked his way out of a jam before, using a Hungry Man frozen dinner.

The Texas artist found himself without a palette, so he improvised. “If you get in a pinch and need a palette quick and cheap, Hungry Man to the rescue,” he says. “Keep the box and it’ll save your pack from getting oil paint on it everywhere. It has enough surface area to work with for a small to medium-size study. I’ve used this trick a few times, and it works great.”
Williamson does have a comment for Swanson Foods regarding the Hungry Man plastic trays. “Wish they came in neutral gray,” he says.
