A collective of talented plein air painters who live and work throughout the Pikes Peak Region will come together this summer to celebrate the arts through extraordinary landscapes surrounding America’s Mountain, Pikes Peak, and the majestic wilderness of the Pike National Forest.

More from the organizers:

The summer kicks off with members of the Pikes Peak Plein Air Painters (PPPAP) month-long show throughout June at Our Gallery, in Woodland Park, Colorado. The exhibition is showcasing original works inspired by the region’s rugged mountain vistas, alpine forests, historic communities, and changing summer light. The exhibition highlights the growing plein air movement in Colorado and the enduring appeal of painting directly from nature.

The exhibition will serve as the launch point for a full season of outdoor art activities, including plein air painting classes taught by PPPAP members, a destination workshop instructed by PPPAP master artists, painting demonstrations by various local artists, and special community events which include art walks and studio tours taking place in the “City Above the Clouds.” The summer’s activities will end with the Peak Art Adventure Plein Air Event & Competition which draws artists from throughout the United States to paint with the PPPAP at a series of destination paint-outs and to participate in a series of “Art Talk” events and activities planned around promoting the arts and the artists, hosted by Gayle Gross and Reserve Our Gallery in Woodland Park.

Known for its breathtaking scenery and rich artistic heritage, the Pikes Peak Region has long inspired painters, photographers, and nature lovers alike. Through their work, these artists aim to bring attention to the importance of preserving and appreciating the natural beauty of the region while encouraging residents and visitors to experience the landscape through art.

“Painting outdoors creates a direct connection between the artist and the land,” said Michael Gault, one of the founders of the PPPAP. “The Pikes Peak Region offers some of the most inspiring mountain scenery in the American West, and we want to share that experience with the community.”

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to meet multi-award winning artists, including Michael Gault, Chuck Mardosz, Tim Deibler, Julie Cutting, Ken Hartman, and Jacqui Gould. Cutting, Hartman, Gould and Gault are featured in the PPPAP section of June’s PleinAir Magazine. PPPAP members will be at the exhibition and various paint-out events over the summer. Attendees will learn about the plein air tradition, and discover upcoming opportunities to paint alongside professional and emerging artists during summer workshops and events.
